My Chiropractic Story

I have been a chiropractic patient since I was an infant.  I've heard the stories told so vividly from my parents on how I was a colicky baby that wouldn't eat, sleep or keep food down.  After a few months of no sleep, visiting doctor after doctor my parents chiropractor, Dr. Richard Kay asked why didn't they bring their baby into see him.  With some hesitation they brought their bundle of joy into see Dr. Kay and after the first visit in the office I slept soundly for nearly 12 hours and stopped projectile vomiting.  Thus began my family's experience with chiropractic care for the whole family (my parents, me and my two younger sisters).  The summer going into high school I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle.  I started high school wearing a neck brace!! Turning my head the wrong way the pinched nerve in my neck and would cause me to drop my head to the desk in pain.  Dr. Kay got me back on track after a few weeks of care and thus motivated me to seek out an education in chiropractic to help others regain their health like I had done.

My Personal Background

I grew up in Oakland county and graduated from Hazel Park High School.  I started my undergraduate work at Oakland Community College at the Royal Oak and Orchard Lake campuses.  I worked my way through those first few years of a pre-med curriculum while working at Costco Wholesale in Madison Heights.  I then transferred to Logan University where I finished my Bachelors in Human Biology.  I then completed the five year academic, Doctor of Chiropractic program at Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri graduating in 2008.  Additional training and coursework that I have completed are: CACCP (Certification from the Academy Council of Chiropractic Pediatrics) specializing in the care of pediatrics and women's health, Chiropractic Nutrition Specialist, Chiropractic Pediatrics and Internal Health Specialist (Natural Digestion).

I am happily married to Dr. Rachel Rice, DC, my high school sweetheart and we currently have two healthy beautiful daughters, Rhagen and Hudson which were both natural planned home births.  Our daughters have both greatly benefited from the chiropractic approach to health and wellness and it's not uncommon to find our two year old, Rhagen attempting to adjust her stuffed animals and friends and family who lay on our floors at home.  We love spending time outdoors and enjoying the precious time with our daughters and teaching them to share the benefits of a vitalistic lifestyle through chiropractic.

Dr. Richard Asks some important questions of interest to Warren residents - Chiropractor Warren Dr. Richard Asks...

Can babies with colic be helped with chiropractic?
It's probably one of the times a parent feels the most helpless. But based on the research, chiropractic and colic relief appear to go hand in glove. With success rates in the mid-90% range, more and more Warren parents are seeing a chiropractor. If you have a baby with colic learn how chiropractic may help.
How could chiropractic help a stomach problem?
Chiropractic works by locating and reducing areas of the spine compromising nerve communications between your brain and your body. If nerves to or from your stomach are irritated, your stomach won't work right. Chiropractors find the source of the interference, reduce it and allow your body to work as designed.
